Out we go ITC Bintang to Lembing Town!

On the 1st of February, our ITC Bintang Toastmasters Club’s members started 3 days trip by car to Lembing Town in Pahang. It took us about 3 hours from KL to reach Kuantan.

Our first place to visit after we had a short lunch break was Gua Cheras, Hindus and Buddhists cave temple which is located on Bukit Cheras and surrounded by oil palm trees plantations.

We were welcomed by the person in charged and had a short 10 minutes walk climbing about 100 steps we have reached the entrance.

The cave was quite big and well equipped with walkways and lighting making it accessible to visitors.

Gua Cheras is famous for its temples and the reclining Buddha.
Going higher to discover another cave.

Next, we hit the road again to go Kuantan town for dinner. Before that, we headed to famous Teluk Cempedak beach for leisure and free walk.

White sand beach ... a place for beach leisure

Windy beach ... best for flying kite!

Yay ITC Bintang Toastmasters Club!

We’ve enjoyed our dinner and hit the road to go Lembing Town.

Nice Satay Dinner Time ...

Accommodation in Sg. Lembing is cheap and affordable as most of them are guest house type. We immediately check-in and the first thing was laid on the bed. It’s the time to get our body to rest. This was the place that we stayed in for 2 nights. It was pretty clean with air-con. Not bad at all!

The next morning we woke up early in the morning to go to Rainbow Waterfall. The tiny water droplets from this high waterfall create a rainbow effect when the sunrise rays hits it, hence the Rainbow waterfall.

We took off on a 4WD which was included in the tour at around 6.45am and the 4WD drive took around 1 hour to reach the hiking point. We past through streams and bumpy roads and great sceneries along the way.

We stopped at a point where the 4-WD can’t go any further and we started to go on foot. The guide lead us. We walked past a stream to the other side. The hiking begins. We walked on rocks especially slippery river, rocks, mud and we had to climb across dead trunk trees a couple of times.

After hiking about 30-45 minutes, we reached the waterfall and it was gorgeous and it was worth all the walking. Once we reached the waterfall, we saw the rainbow and it was breathtaking.

After a very cooling swim at the waterfall, the tour guide cooked us noodle in cup where they boiled it at the waterfall. How cool is that! :)

After we came back and had a rest, we’ve decided to visit Tin mine tunnel which has been restored and now open for visitors.
We entered the mine by a tram. It brought us to about halfway inside the original mine and later we have to walk.

The original mine displays various collections of mining paraphernalia. There are mannequins, drilling machines, trams, interactive exhibits, info boards and other extravaganzas.
Basically, the exhibits inside the original mines educate visitors about the process of how mining was carried out as well as discover how tin mining had contributed in the historical path of this country. We had a blast learning about things we never knew before. We read the information and played along with the interactive exhibits. It was really an educational trip for us.
Sungai Lembing Mines, once the deepest and longest tin mines in the world, are preserved in their most natural and original settings. It was operated since 1886 for a period of a century on a big scale thus making Sungai Lembing renowned throughout the world.

Robin and Victor got their hand on the hand-pump car after getting out from the mine

On our last day, on Sunday, we woke up very early to catch up the sunrise on Bukit Panorama Hill. The way up to the top of the hill is mostly steep stairs, reasonably maintained with a holding rail in the middle. Way easier to navigate with a torch light.

We have reached the top by 6.30 am and it was still very dark.

Surprise to our Birthday Girl Penny!!! Singing Happy Birthday song and eating a cake

Clouds hiding the town with a breathtaking mountainous view
Unfortunately the cloud was too thick that morning and we’ve missed the chance to see the sunrise.

It was an amazing experience that we couldn’t get enough :) Show’s over. Time to head back to town for some breakfast! Got to compensate for all those calories burnt :)
After having a rest we’ve checked out from guest house and made a way back to KL - the reality.
