Courage, Enthusiasm, Optimism

While the citizen of United States (where the first Toastmasters club was founded) were celebrating their motherland's independence on July 4th, we at ITC Bintang were celebrating our first meeting of the new term!

Due to some unforeseen circumstances at our usual venue, we moved the meeting place to Banker's Club, Amoda Building. This 'unforeseen circumstances' turned out to be a bliss, as it was the perfect place for the first meeting! We were awed by the grand setting provided by the good people at Banker's Club.

As always, our guests never failed to surprise us by their turnout. Even though five or six of our members couldn't make it to the meeting, it was still a full house due to the presence of guests (despite the change from our usual meeting place).

As with every first meeting of the term, we had a welcoming speech from our newly-crowned Madam President Tham Cinyee. Our youngest (and most gorgeous) president ever! Now, if only you provided me with a bigger resolution photo Madam President...

We also had two slot for business (club) matters. First, our new VPE Gabriel Chong came forward to explain the various recognitions and achievements in Toastmasters, and how our club is performing so far. Then it was Victor Lee's turn to explain about the improved house system of the club.

Our two-time winner of Humorous Speech contest, Ivan Cheng, presented his speech on the Better Speaker  Series. This series is intended to give insight to club members on how to give a better speech, especially in competitions.

We also had Muhammad Khairul to present his first speech from the Advanced Communicator series. This is an interesting speech where it requires him and another stranger (thanks to the cooperation from our Kazakhstan lady guest) to talk naturally in front of the audience. Unfortunately yours truly didn't capture any photo of this as he was up there doing the speech.

A big thanks to our Immediate Past President, Robin Yap for being the Toastmasters of the Evening, also to Benny Chiar for being the General Evaluator. It was a terrific evening, and until we meet again!
