I read the news today. Oh boy, did ITC Bintang Toastmasters Club just being awarded the President's Distinguished Club again? Congratulations to Past President and current Division P Director Benny Chia and his exco for the outstanding and illustrious term of 2014/2015.

For the uninitiated, the award is given based upon a set of criteria stipulated by Toastmasters International under the Distinguished Club Program to ensure clubs possess the characteristics of quality. A high quality club encourages and celebrates member achievement, provides a supportive and fun environment and most importantly, offers a professionally organized meeting with variety.

At ITC Bintang Toastmasters Club, officers are trained in all aspects of club quality to ensure that members have access to a formal mentoring program, are provided evaluations that help them grow and are motivated to achieve their goals.  In short, the Distinguished Club Program includes 10 goals which are grouped into 4 fours namely Education, Membership, Training and Administration.

The following are the goals a club should achieve during the year:-

A) Education

Goal 1
:
Two Competent Communicator (CC) awards.
Goal 2
:
Two more CC awards.
Goal 3
:
One  Advanced Communicator Bronze (ACB), Advanced Communicator Silver (ACS) or Advanced Communicator Gold (ACG) award.
Goal 4
:
One more ACB, ACS or ACG award.
Goal 5
:
One Competent Leader (CL), Advanced Leader Bronze (ALB), Advanced Leader Silver (ALS) or Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) award.
Goal 6
:
One more CL, ALB, ALS or DTM award.

B) Membership

Goal 7
:
Four new members.
Goal 8
:
Four more new members.

C) Training

Goal 9
:
A minimum of 4 club officers trained each of the two training periods.

D) Administration

Goal 10
:
On time payment of membership dues and submission of officer name list.
