KICK START THE YEAR 2015

KICK START THE YEAR 2015
On the 7th Jan 2015, we held our 1st meeting of the year by conducting an
Induction of Members for welcoming our new members who joined ITC Bintang
Toastmasters Club after 1 Jul 2014.  The TME, our experienced speaker,
Justine J, started the meeting by introducing the theme of meeting- HAPPY
NEW YEAR
and word of the day- A BREAK and drawing of stunning FIREWORKS on
white board to welcome 2015 in with a bang

In conjunction with theme of NEW YEAR, the Table Topic session which was helmed by
Tammy, has invited our guest Max (all the way from Canada) to share his 3 things that he
would like to stop doing, starting this year. Hilarious & entertaining table topic speech indeed!
 Bravo Max.

The best TT winner, Penny revealed that she finally “off the shelf” when she was asked to share
the big thing that is going to happen in her life in this year.

Justine Kap Piang, Cin Yee & Chenyue had delivered interesting impromptu speeches.

ITC BintangToastmasters Club has initiated an Induction Ceremony to our new members. It was a simple yet formal ceremony. The Induction Ceremony is a bit like “marriage” where the new members confirm their intention to be active members, and the old members confirm their willingness to help the new members.
The Induction Ceremony Officer is also our Club’s VPM, Yeoh Lian See was facilitating the ceremony. All mentors and mentees were called up to confirm their commitment to each other and growth as speakers.
The 3rd event of the meeting was prepared speeches. First was Prekumar.
Prekumar was in action …….depicting white elephant story entitled “How to eat an Elephant!”
You must start wondering how could this happen???

Next Athirah delivered a Get to the Point speech entitled “No More Promises”. Take home
 message JUST DO IT!

Following that Yosua described his “Plan to Fail No More” in conjunction with New Year’s mood.

Finally, immediate past president, also Best Assignment Speaker, Gabriel addressed his long
waited advance speech titled “Driven to Madness”, narrated his personal experience about his high school friend, John who had bumped into a ghost in Japanese 2nd world war military
outfit with knife stabbing in his stomach…..The audience experience goose bump moments tha
t can really give us, well…. goose bumps.

After these assignment speeches, we had our evaluation session for the table topic and prepared

speeches: Evaluation teams comprised of Gordon, Cherie, Benny, Melvin (Best TT Evaluator) &
Victor, who have given encouraging and constructive comments to the speakers and the
audience.

Not to forget our technical team - Grammarian Ivan Cheng, Ah Counter Kok Kiong and Timer John gave their reports.
General Evaluator Yeow Honn
gave concise and quality comments on the meeting as a whole.
TME threw a joke where he asked “What do you think about New Year??”
3 categories of the answers gathered:-
1)  “New Year” ……“New Opportunity” – from optimists
2) “New Year”….. “Now problems” – from pessimists
3) “New Year”…. “Ok Ok Lah…” – from those in between
  So, which category are you?
Last but not least, President Benny addressed closing by recap the New Year message from the
President’s desk where he shared few work streams which we will execute with the help of members.

It was overall a really fun night.
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2015!
