THE VOICE (SEASON 2) OF ITC BINTANG TMC 2014

On the 17th December 2014 and in conjunction with our very last meeting of 2014, we decided to end it with our all time favourite theme - The Voice (Season 2)!

After going through thorough selection process, we had narrowed down to 6 very important people a.k.a the Judges of The Voice for ITC Bintang TMC and they were no other than - Melvin Tham (a.k.a Melvin Levine) , Cinyee Tham (a.k.a. Gwen Cinyee) , Low Yat Seow (a.k.a. Simon Yatwell) , Geoff Andrew (a.k.a Geoff Timberlake), Gabriel Chong (a.k.a Cee Lo Chong) and Victor Lee (a.k.a. Vic Shelton).

With that, we've created and sent out the invites  as below to welcome as many guest and other fellow Toastmasters to attend the event on the 17th December 2014.

The night kick started with the two lovely ladies as the Toastmasters of the Evening (TME), Cherie Teng and Yeoh Lian See. The TME explained the 'rule' of the game whereby each speaker will be judged by the panel of judges - however, the judges will not be facing the speaker (as per the blind audition of the original The Voice). Only when the judges like the speaker or felt that the speaker met the speech's objectives, will they turn around to face the speaker. At the end of the speech, the judges will provide feedback to the speaker and the speaker will choose their favourite judge. Nevertheless, before the show begin, we stick to the very essence of The Voice and had a special guest, Crystal Teoh, to sing for us with her breathtaking number of Alicia Keys' 'If I Ain't Got You'. Her voice was truly amazing!

Then, the show begun with speakers battling it out with their best performance to get the judges' buy in. We had a line up of seasoned and well performed speakers - Mohammad Syairoz, Ang Hui Ying, Robin Yap, Yeoh Zu Dian, May Wong, Pam Lee and Andrew Tan. We had speech topics ranging from volunteerism, acronyms, Toyota cars, Pareto Principle, flight survival, Samsung product briefing and the all time line - 'do not judge a book by it's cover'. We also had a humour master - Alvin Sai, to entertain us during the event.

And the judging time was epic especially with Cee Lo Chong and his 'grumpy cat'. Not forgetting Simon Yatwell who really shared similar traits with Simon Cowell on comments! We have Geoff Timberlake, Melvin Levine and Vic Shelton who gave many constructive feedback and shared with the speakers/audience on tips for improving. Last but not least, we have our very own and only lady in the panel of judges - the very fabulous Gwen Cinyee!
After all the above were done, audiences then cast their votes through SMS/Whastapp on the 'Best Judge' and 'Best Speaker' of the evening. The winner for 'Best Judge' goes to Cee Lo Chong(+grumpy cat) and the winner for 'Best Speaker' goes to Ang Hui Ying.

We ended the night with 6 lucky winners of lucky draw (each won a hamper), complementary gifts to all speakers and judges, the presidential note from our president - Benny Chia, and a closing number from none other than Crystal Teoh.

It was overall a really fun night and a big shout out/thank you to everyone that's involved to make this event happened - Benny Chia, Robin Yap, Justin Jesunathan, Cherie Teng, Yeoh Lian See, Speakers, Judges , Role Players, ITC Members and all guests. Thanks and let's cheer for a great 2015 for ITC Bintang Toastmasters Club!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2015! =)
